What are the Short Term Programs?

The STP’s are a weekend program provided for students who are blind or visually impaired enrolled in schools throughout Ontario. Students stay for the weekend in the residence at W Ross Macdonald School free of charge and are provided with meals and snacks. Each weekend provides a positive and supportive environment that allows students make lasting friendships while socializing and learning appropriate academic life skills.

APRIL 29-MAY 1, 2016

Ages: Teens 15+

Students will be given resources to support them and prepare them for success in college, university or employment. They will learn more about going to university/college, training for careers and hear what former STP students think of their experiences at college and in the workplace. In addition, students will explore their health and well-being while developing appropriate stress management techniques. It’s never too early to start planning!

JUNE 3-5, 2016
Teens Ages 14+

Adventure starts here! Students will be introduced to a variety of outdoor activities to give the basis for a lifetime of outdoor adventure. Students will also be provided with the opportunity to learn and discuss how the natural environment has an impact on their daily lives. In the outdoors, the students can learn about their character traits and strengths such as respect, responsibility, independence, self-confidence, openness to new experiences, leadership, critical thinking etc. No previous experience is required!
