VIEWS Virtual Choir

We’d like to invite you to participate in something totally new and super exciting: the VIEWS Music Camp Virtual Choir!

Thank you for your help! Over the past few weeks, Vaiva Dzemionas, our songwriting instructor, has composed a piece for us to perform based on the theme of “Resilience” (the idea of not giving up when faced with obstacles). You helped us to co-create the song by submitting other lyrical ideas, in the form of words and phrases, which would fit well into the theme of resilience and celebrating the strong, vibrant community this camp has built!

To help you learn the song, Vaiva has created a teaching track that you can listen to here, or download by clicking here:

Next, you’ll probably need to know the lyrics! You can find the lyric below, and a downloadable version can be found by clicking here:

We Won’t give up

Chorus
We won’t give up, we won’t give up, oh no (3)

Verse 1
When we come together, we’re strong, we’re strong
We sing together, we’re strong, we’re strong
We create together, there’s power in our song
(2)
No hill is too big to climb
No hill is too big to climb, we said
No hill is too big to climb
With strength and courage, we get up, we get up

Chorus

Bridge
We’re grateful for our voices (3) oh oh
(2)
Let’s sing and cheer together music camp forever (8)
We won’t give up, we won’t give up oh no (1)

Cause, no hill is too big to climb (3)
No hill is too big, no hill, no hill

Chorus (2)

Lastly, you’ll need this Sing-a-long track so that we can make sure that everyone recording match up perfectly! When you record your part, you can listen to this track on earbuds or headphones while you record your wonderful singing. You can listen below or download a copy by clicking here:

We will be sharing this piece at our final “concert” on July 25th 1pm, which you can attend over Zoom to celebrate all the amazing accomplishments of the performers! Zoom meeting details to follow.

For further information on how to record your part for the virtual choir, please submit your recording no later than July 9th, 2020!

Happy singing- and remember: Choir…is…FYRE!!!

VIEWS Talent Show

One of the most fulfilling aspects of running this program each year is the opportunity to see what our campers learned from their instructors and how they’ve grown musically within their home communities! As such, despite the COVID-19 situation, we’d still like to keep the excitement alive by offering an opportunity for you, the music camp community, to strut your stuff by submitting an audio or video performance of the latest repertoire you’ve been working on! It could be a song you’ve written, a vocal/instrumental solo, a monologue, a dance routine, or whatever other aspect of the performing arts strikes your fancy at the moment!

Then, to top it all off, we will be compiling your video submissions into a full-length “concert” and hosting a viewing party over Zoom on July 25th at 1pm to celebrate all the amazing accomplishments of the performers! Zoom meeting details to follow.

NOTE: All submissions must be received by July 9th, 2020, and will be monitored and vetted for appropriateness of content

VIEWS Group Chat – ‘Making the Best of This Time’

This year, we will be hosting during the week of camp is a chat about wellness, resilience, and strategies we can use to overcome obstacles through the power of friendship and community during this difficult time.

Come join us on Zoom July 24th at 7pm, for a “virtual coffee break” to catch up and explore some strategies with Vaiva Dzemionas, our host for the evening, who has a social work background! Familiar camp staff including Vaughan, Blair, and Jeff will also be there, so let’s take some time to come together as a community and focus on all the wonderful things which can help us move forward, even when it appears most of the world is standing still!
